Gardening Websites

Epic Gardening found at https://epicgardening.com offers a wealth of information on edible gardening, ornamental gardening, soil and compost, basics, plant problems, and product reviews. Epic also has a links to buy gardening supplies, vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, plant supports, and gardening books to name a few. A lot of the supplies are beyond my fixed income with some seeds as high as $5.69 a packet, but you may get a couple just to try. If you have the money, they may have your solution.

Brown Thumb Mama found at http://brownthumbmama.com says “Whether you need simple recipes, gardening advice, or tips for a non-toxic home–there’s something here for you.” The site has a variety of articles on growing fruit and vegetables in pots or beds, good recipes, and a shop that offers E-books for purchase on a variety of subjects for home and garden.

According to the website for Garden Beast, “GardenBeast is an online publication which launched in 2019 with the aim of providing the latest news, in-depth how-to guides and reviews of popular products to help you make the most from your back yards and gardens.” Garden Beast can be found at https://gardenbeast.com/. I like Garden Beast because it offers articles on how to grow specific different plants and trees. I have a Loquat tree in my backyard and have struggled with its growth and care. The first article I saw on the site was How to Grown and Care for a Loquat tree. The site also has a whole section that offers free planting E-books to download. Anything that’s free, I consider good for me.

Many gardening videos can also be found on YouTube. I found Grow Your greens at https://www.youtube.com/user/growingyourgreens. According to the About section of the channel, “Growing Your Greens is one of the most watched gardening show on youtube. It’s a fun and enlightening show on how to grow food at your home and beyond. John provides you with tips and tricks as well as shares his experiences growing food at his urban homestead. John is dedicated to helping you sustainably grow the highest quality fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts and other edible foods in your front yard and beyond. Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up with all the latest episodes.” Some people learn easier by watching a video about how to do something. I scrolled past the videos on growing cannabis to others more to my liking, but if that’s your cup of tea, enjoy the video.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac is found at https://www.almanac.com/. Who hasn’t been waiting in line at the grocery store and noticed the Old Farmer’s Almanac with its familiar yellow paper cover sitting on the rack with the other bright magazines trying to attract your attention? If you want to know the weather predictions for the coming year, the best planting times for your vegetables, or read quirky articles and see new gardening products, The Almanac offers this and more. When you click the link, it goes to the main site that offers weather links for the United States and Canada, but you must continue to scroll down the page to find everything that the site has to offer such as the Farmer’s Store that has many books and a host of lovely items related to gardening. There’s also a free vegetable garden guide you can download.
